Why You Should Buy A Kindle

If you are a book-lover like me, then I strongly recommend you buy a Kindle Paperwhite. A Kindle is an electronic device built specifically for reading. Unlike other tablets, you can look at the screen for hours without hurting your eyes thanks to the e-ink technology in it that makes it similar to reading a physical book. It will change your life, seriously. It's the one item I always have on me (with my wallet and phone). Wherever I go, you will find my Kindle on me.

Some of the reasons that make it such a wonderful device are the following:

+ Device is small, compact and lightweight (perfect for travelling)
+ Electronic ink display (read for hours without causing eyestrain)
+ Built in light (read comfortably at night)
+ Stores over 1400 books (2GB version)
+ Built in dictionary
+ Read in English and Arabic
+ Supports PDF & DOC formats
+ eBooks are cheaper (lots of free eBooks available online as well)
+ Allows you to highlight your favorite sentences/passages
+ Allows you to write notes on your eBook
+ Long battery life (I charge my device once every month)
+ Reasonably priced (30KD straight to your door from Xcite)

    1. Good question. The Kindle recognizes pdf files but it's better to convert them into .mobi (the file type optimized for the Kindle; it takes seconds and you can do it online for free).

You do not have to download the books from the device, most of my books are online pdf books I've downloaded for free from various websites. All I do is convert them and transfer them to my Kindle via USB.

No proper Arabic recognition yet unfortunately.

    3. Arabic books are not yet supported on the device unfortunately. Hopefully this will change in the future.

  5. I just order one and i have a question about something..
Is it normal that my screan work like an old tv when you switch pages, like fading a little then showing the next page ?

    1. Yes that's totally normal, it's like that to show you that you turned the page. If you have any other questions or issues about the Kindle please come and see me in my office and I will gladly help you with whatever you need :)

  6. I like the physical versions of books more, but I'm suffering with the space in my room which made me consider the kindle, I tried Apple iBooks on the iPad and I can feel my eyes is dying slowly especially that I draw using the iPad too, so I'm basically spending hours in front of the screen and that damaged my eyes tremendously, I'm hesitated but will see. Thanks!

  7. I would like to have it but it’s so hard leaving a physical book. You know like I’m cheating on books if I had Kindle instead of them. How could you move on? I know it seems like I’m talking about something else but my relationship is the strongest relationship I have ever in my whole life. I doubt my future marriage will be that strong.

    1. Haha good one! Well it's all about your perspective. You can see buying a Kindle as treason against regular books or you can view it as an extension for your love of books. From my personal experience, it is a life changer. Yes I'll say it again, a Kindle will change your life for the better.

If you don't believe me, just buy one, and if it doesn't change your life, I'll personally give you a refund for it!

  9. Is it waterproof? X-cite sells the original right? I bought once from there online and it was made in China with a very poor quality. In which country is yours made sir? and did you buy it from x-cite online?

    1. The one I have is not waterproof (you don't need it to be waterproof honestly, I mean I won't use it in the shower). If you buy it straight from Amazon or Xcite, it shouldn't be a problem honestly. Not sure where it's made, but I bought it directly from Amazon. The ones in Xcite are original as well.

    2. Not in the shower LOL, but along the shore or in the pool, even if something wet touches it, It will be like extra protection. Thank you.

    3. It's really up to you, but keep in mind that if you buy the waterproof one, you're going to pay extra for that option. I personally felt like I didn't need such a feature so I avoided it. But if you feel like you're going to use it around the pool/beach and so on, then go for the waterproof one.

  10. And does it play audio-books. X-cite descriptions for all Kindle products are mostly the same and lack precise details. I hope my questions will help others as well who are willing to buy one. This is the one I am asking about and that Mr. Farran has https://www.xcite.com/amazon-8gb-kindle-paperwhite-e-reader-wifi-tablet-black-1.html?utm_source=cto&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=cto-trx-kw-en-lower

    1. Yes I believe the link you shared is the Kindle that plays audio books as well. But just to be on the safe side, when you go to the store (if you go there physically), hold the box in your hand and check the details written on there.

    1. Yes that's the problem with physical books, they start taking a lot of space after some time. A lot of free books are available actually, all the classics are available online for free and there are a ton of websites where you can download free ebooks.

I believe you can also read Arabic on the Kindle as well.
